Paul,

For spring-piston Field Target, I would suggest a Weihrauch HW97 or a Diana TH56. Vortex makes an excellent scope that would be suitable for Hunter Class FT competition. I have never handled or shot the Beeman Mach 12.5 air rifle, so I really can't comment on its suitability. I have competed in FT also with some Weihrauch break barrel rifles, including the HW30 and the HW50.

I presume that there is an FT club in your area. I suggest attending some matches and asking to try different rifles. Someone might even let you borrow an FT rig to shoot during a match. That way you can get a good sense of what you like and don't like.

Hi Jock:

My name is Paul, I'm from Guaynabo, P.R. and through this e-mail I am presenting myself. I have a few questions, I'm about to enter into the field target practice but every body is telling me that I have to purchase a PCP Rifle which cost $1,000.00 no to mention a good scope. In the other hand I being reading allot of articles through the internet telling me that I can use a spring - piston which is a more affordable idea at the beginning.

Do you have an idea of a good spring piston rifle, maybe the " Beeman Mach 12.5 Air Rifle, RS3 Trigger by Beeman" which only produce a 12.5 FPE or any good spring piston rifle? I know for sure that good spring piston rifles for field target because there is a category for these type of rifles. Another thing that I know is that this sport is based on time, you're running against the clock, when using a spring piston, because the nature and cocking procedure, if there is any extra time or forgiving time when using a spring piston during competition?

Thanks in advance for all your information.

Regards,
