{"id":3166,"date":"2015-01-19T08:00:25","date_gmt":"2015-01-19T15:00:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.airgunsofarizona.com\/blog\/?p=3166"},"modified":"2015-01-12T13:55:51","modified_gmt":"2015-01-12T20:55:51","slug":"pre-shot-show-2015","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.airgunsofarizona.com\/blog\/2015\/01\/pre-shot-show-2015.html","title":{"rendered":"Pre-SHOT Show 2015"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>For my first contribution to this blog I thought I\u2019d tell you a little about the annual trade show held in Las Vegas where new items related to the airgun industry are showcased.\u00a0 Each January for 4 days, the National Shooting Sports Foundation sponsors a huge trade show known as the SHOT Show.\u00a0 Over 60,000 exhibitors\/vendors, buyers and media from around the world gather to celebrate all things related to the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">S<\/span>hooting, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">H<\/span>unting and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">O<\/span>utdoor <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">T<\/span>rades. When I say \u201call things\u201d I am not kidding.\u00a0 We are talking everything from Anti-tank weapons (military sales only\u2026) to Zippo (they own Case knives) and everything in between; including such diverse items as hiking boots, hunting dog training gear, ATVs and jerky spices\/game processing supplies.\u00a0 If you\u2019ve seen it in a sporting goods or gun store, it can be ordered in quantity at this show.\u00a0 Being a trade show it is not open to the public and no cash &amp; carry sales happen on the show floor.<\/p>\n<p>Manufacturers use this forum to introduce their newest creations that we consumers see on the store shelves later in the year.\u00a0 All the major players (with the exception of Daisy) come to Vegas to show off their latest-and-greatest wares.\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.airgunsofarizona.com\">AofA<\/a> exhibits every year and it is great to catch up with Robert and the gang.<\/p>\n<p>As the biggest show of its type held in North America, literally thousands of firearms are on display and they must be rendered inoperable.\u00a0 No live ammunition is allowed in the convention center and even though there is a large section of the show dedicated to law enforcement equipment, LEOs in attendance may not be armed.\u00a0 Of course, there is a huge presence of local police and private security.\u00a0 Even lowly pellets are not exempt from the rules.\u00a0 My friend Dick over at Predator International wanted to display an open tin of his <a href=\"http:\/\/www.airgunsofarizona.com\/JSB%20Pellets%20Page.html#Predator177\">Polymags<\/a> and the only way the promoters would allow it was if he poured a clear epoxy over the tin to turn the pellets into a solid mass.<\/p>\n<p>Sometimes the products on display are so new that attendees are handling prototypes.\u00a0 It is always interesting to see how the prototypes changed between SHOT and the store shelves.\u00a0 Also, seeing the innovations taking place across every segment of the industry each year is amazing.<\/p>\n<p>It is an exciting place to be in an exciting venue and I feel fortunate to be able to participate in it.\u00a0 After a whole day of touching everything gun-related, and seeing what the manufacturing world has to offer in the way of things connected to this hobby\/passion you can hang out at the casinos and win your fortune!\u00a0 So far it hasn\u2019t happened to me \u2013 but there is always next year!<\/p>\n<p>Alright, so I\u2019ll stick with a good thing and just concentrate on walking the million+ square foot show floor visiting as many of the 1600+ exhibitors as possible.\u00a0 Look for a follow up blog after I return from the show for a sneak preview of what is on the airgunning horizon.<\/p>\n<p>Remember to exercise and protect your freedoms or risk losing them\u2026<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>For my first contribution to this blog I thought I\u2019d tell you a little about the annual trade show held in Las Vegas where new items related to the airgun industry are showcased.\u00a0 Each January for 4 days, the National Shooting Sports Foundation sponsors a huge trade show known as the SHOT Show.\u00a0 Over 60,000&#8230;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.airgunsofarizona.com\/blog\/2015\/01\/pre-shot-show-2015.html\">&raquo;<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":4,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"om_disable_all_campaigns":false,"_monsterinsights_skip_tracking":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_active":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_note":"","_monsterinsights_sitenote_category":0,"footnotes":""},"categories":[1],"tags":[],"aioseo_notices":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.airgunsofarizona.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/3166"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.airgunsofarizona.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.airgunsofarizona.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.airgunsofarizona.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/4"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.airgunsofarizona.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=3166"}],"version-history":[{"count":3,"href":"https:\/\/www.airgunsofarizona.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/3166\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":3177,"href":"https:\/\/www.airgunsofarizona.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/3166\/revisions\/3177"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.airgunsofarizona.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=3166"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.airgunsofarizona.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=3166"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.airgunsofarizona.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=3166"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
