Latest news is that a range of Meopta riflescopes is becoming available at Airguns of Arizona. They\u2019re so new that deliveries are still arriving day-by-day. They\u2019ve not even made it to the AoA web site yet. But they will soon\u2026<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019ve been examining one model and have been very impressed. It\u2019s a 3-18\u00d756 RD FFP scope, one of the Meopta Optika6 range.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meopta Optika6 riflescopes are the latest introduction from this long-established US\/Czech optical company. Yes, you read this right, Meopta has long been a company which \u201cspans the Pond\u201d with operations in continents either side of the Atlantic Ocean!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As is typical with Meopta riflescopes, this new family is available in a large number of magnification and reticle combinations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A number of these new Meopta Optika6 scopes is suitable for use with PCP airguns, including this one. The company is also expanding its distribution into the airgun market. So now you can buy Meopta scopes from AoA. They\u2019re an excellent match with Brocock<\/a> and Weihrauch PCP<\/a> air rifles. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Optika6 3-18\u00d756 RD FFP scope with Z-Plus RD reticle also performed very well when matched with SportsMatch rings<\/a> and the Daystate Wolverine<\/a>\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Meopta<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Make no mistake, this Optika6 3-18\u00d756 RD FFP scope is a substantial piece of optical equipment. With a 30 mm diameter tube and 56 mm objective (front) lens, it weighs-in at 30.5 Ounces. That\u2019s approaching 2 Lbs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Combined with a 14.5 Inch overall length, this gives a very robust feeling to the scope. The quality impression is reinforced by all other aspects of the product.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What makes this scope particularly suitable for airgun use is the combination of close focusing and a MOA-graduated reticle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The side parallax correction allows focusing down to 10 Yards. This is achieved \u2013 as expected \u2013 using the left side turret. That left turret also includes the intensity control for the selectable red dot center of the reticle. It\u2019s on the outside ring, marked 1 . 2 . etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meopta\u2019s ZPlus Rd reticle has 2 MOA wind and elevation correction. This is combined with a 1 MOA red-illuminated central aiming point in this First Focal Plane (FFP) version. Note that a Second Focal Plane version is also available, if required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Full details of all the graduations (A, B, C etc) are provided on the Meopta website. It\u2019s best to check them out there.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In practical use, I found Meopta\u2019s FFP reticle to be pleasant to use. It doesn\u2019t seem too tiny at low magnifications or too think at high mags, as can happen with some other FFP scopes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The selectable red dot is an useful addition in dull conditions and provides a controllable level of brightness when enabled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The elevation turret is fully exposed and click-adjustable. Push down to lock the setting after making any changes. This turret also features  zero stop elevation that allows the shooter to have a definite return-to-zero point if they choose to dial-in, rather than holding-over using the reticle. Standard click values are 0.25 MOA per click adjustment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In normal use the windage turret is capped. Removing the cap allows for adjustment, of course, as we can see below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Turrets, zoom and focusing controls are all covered in attractive \u2013 and aggressive \u2013 black rubber. These heavy duty control surfaces make them very easy to operate, particularly in cold and wet conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, you\u2019ll see that the magnification control ring has a number of tapped holes set around its diameter. These are to allow the user to attach a supplied lever. That comes in useful if you wish to make magnification changes even quicker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As you can see, all lettering and numbering is superbly-easy to read. It stands-out very clearly from the high quality matt black finish of the scope.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One unusual feature of Meopta riflescopes is their ability to accept screw-in filters in front of the objective lens. This allows for extreme customization based on both your own eyesight and field conditions, for example by adding color or neutral density filters. The Meopta Optika6 3-18\u00d756 RD FFP scope accepts M61 x 0.75-threaded filters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meopta makes high optical claims for their products. This undoubtedly explains the very high image quality visible through this scope.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Optika6 scopes incoprorate MeoBright, a proprietary ion-assisted lens multi-coating that\u2019s applied to all air-to-glass optical surfaces. The company claims that this ion- assisted multi-coatings eliminate glare and reflections and delivers an industry leading 99.7% light transmission per lens surface.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, MeoShield ion-assisted coating protects external lens surfaces and delivers enhanced resistance to scratching or abrasion in extreme conditions. Meopta says that MeoShield meets military specifications for durability and surface hardness. That\u2019s great news for long-term resistance to scratching in the field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All-in-all, I found that the Meopta Optika6 3-18\u00d756 RD FFP riflescope gives outstanding performance for an attractive – sub $800 – price. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
