That says a lot for the design of this single shot, spring\/piston model. Here HAM is taking a first look at the HW45, we\u2019ll be reviewing it in due course\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Over the years, the HW45 has been available in a number of finishes. The Bronze Star is a bronze Cerakote-finished version of this Colt 45-inspired air pistol. However the HW45 is not a centerfire replica in the sense that many current CO2-powered airguns are.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In fact, the HW45 is much larger than its firearm inspiration. Weighing 2.6 Lbs and 11-Inches long, it\u2019s actually quite a handful to hold \u2013 although smaller than the same manufacturer\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.airgunsofarizona.com\/precharged-pcp-pistols\/weihrauch-hw44-pcp-air-pistol-with-hw-moderator\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"HW44 PCP air pistol (opens in a new tab)\">HW44 PCP air pistol<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"780\" height=\"520\" src=\"https:\/\/www.airgunsofarizona.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/HAM-16.jpg\" alt=\"In fact, the HW45 is much larger than its firearm inspiration. If you&#8217;re looking for something really uncommon, a <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\".20 cal version is available from AoA (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.airgunsofarizona.com\/spring-piston-pistols\/weihrauch-hw45-.20\/\" target=\"_blank\">.20 cal version is available from AoA<\/a> too. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The gun I&#8217;m shooting is in .22 caliber. The Exposed \u201chammer\u201d is actually a barrel catch. The Muzzle Velocities were <strong><em>extremely<\/em><\/strong> consistent, as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Shot 1 &#8211; 379.43 FPS<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Shot 2 &#8211; 379.00 FPS<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Shot 3 &#8211; 379.52 FPS<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Shot 4 &#8211; 380.45 FPS<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Shot 5 &#8211; 381.33 FPS<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can&#8217;t get much more consistent than that!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"780\" height=\"520\" src=\"https:\/\/www.airgunsofarizona.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/HAM-7.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5636\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.airgunsofarizona.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/HAM-7.jpg 780w, https:\/\/www.airgunsofarizona.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/HAM-7-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.airgunsofarizona.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/HAM-7-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 780px) 100vw, 780px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The open sights have fiber optic elements and the rear sight is adjustable for elevation and windage. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Scope rails are machined into the top of the slide &#8211; at the front. This means that a pistol scope or red dot sight can be fitted to the HW45 although &#8211; like all such over-cocking actions &#8211; doing so may make the pistol more difficult to cock.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That Cerakote bronze finish is both attractive and practical. The laminated pistol grip is in a matching colorway and is heavily-stippled.
